Revolution Kids came to fruition in the fall of 2010 through a grant provided by the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention. The Revolution Kids program teaches bike repair skills to youth while they simultaneously earn community service hours and also earn a bike for themselves.
Partnering with the City of Annapolis Police Department, Transportation Department, and Recreation & Parks Department, the Box of Rain program engages youth in a constructive activity that leads to skill development, positive social engagement, and community service. The program also reaches out to the community, as participants get involved in community bike drives, hosting an annual bike sale, and visiting local scout groups to teach bike safety and rules of the road. Currently the bike shop is housed within the Pip Moyer Recreation Center at Truxton Park.
Revolution Kids will not be holding classes this Fall 2016. Stay tuned for more information about this program.
